AI bedroom design: redesign your bedroom from one photo

Before you repaint, buy a bed or change the bedding, see your own bedroom in the new style. Here is one real small bedroom redesigned by AI in six styles, plus links to real bedrooms in five more.

How does AI bedroom design work? You take one photo of your bedroom and choose a style. The AI redraws that same room with a new bed and bedding, wall colour, floor, lighting and decor, while the window, the door and the shape of the room stay the same. In DecorAI you also set the room type to Bedroom, so the AI keeps a bed in it. Your first 2 designs are free.

One bedroom, six styles

Styles are easiest to judge side by side on one room. This small bedroom with a corner window went through six of the app's 15 styles. Same photo, same window, six different rooms.

What AI bedroom design changes, and what it keeps

Kept in all six

  • The corner window and its frames
  • The room's shape and ceiling height
  • The bed's position, against the same wall

Changed

  • The bed, bedding and pillows
  • Wall colour and wall details like mouldings
  • Art, lamps, rugs and the floor

Where it guesses

In four of the six versions the AI added a radiator under the window. The real room doesn't have one. The neoclassical version also turned the mirror into a door.

That's typical: the AI fills a room with things that usually go with the style. Treat any result as an idea, and check it against your real bedroom before you buy anything.

How to photograph a bedroom for AI

  1. Stand in a corner so the bed, at least one window and some floor are in the frame.
  2. Make the bed and clear the floor. Clothes and bags confuse the AI.
  3. Open the curtains and switch the lights on. The AI keeps the light level of your photo.
  4. Pick "Bedroom" as the room type. Our guide shows what happens with the wrong room type.

Free AI bedroom design, and what PRO adds

AI bedroom design questions

Can AI design my bedroom for free?

You can start for free: the Android app lets you make two bedroom designs without signing up or adding a card. More than that needs a PRO plan, priced in the app by Google Play.

Can AI redesign my bedroom from a photo?

Yes. Take one photo of your bedroom, pick a style and the room type Bedroom, and the AI redraws that same room: new bed and bedding, walls, floor, lighting and decor, with the window and door kept where they are.

Will it keep my own bed and furniture?

Usually not. The AI replaces most furniture with pieces in the new style. Use the design to choose colours, materials and shapes, then decide what to keep.

What is the best style for a small bedroom?

Light styles make a small bedroom feel bigger: Scandinavian, Minimalistic and Beach. In the small bedroom above, the Scandinavian version looks the most open.

Can AI furnish an empty bedroom?

Yes, with the empty-room switch in the app, which adds a bed and furniture to a bare room. See our AI virtual staging tests, which include empty bedrooms.
